OPERA HOUSE

Another handsome two story business block will adorn Main street between the first of next year, if weather conditions will permit building operations to be carried on. The building is to be erected by Tunks Bros. and Chris Olsen and will replace the frame structure at the corner of Main and Ninth streets. The decision to build was reached by these men last week and Architect Shreeves of Ogden is now busy working out the plans and specifications.

The building will be a two story brick, with full basement. It will have a frontage of 50 feet on Main street and will be 250 deep. On the first floor will be a store room. On the east side of the store room there will be a lobby leading back to the rear part which will be used as an opera house and moving pictures. This will be a strictly modern playhouse in every respect with a seating capacity of 1000.

The decision of the Tunks Bros. and Mr. Olson to expend between $30,000 and $40,000 in erecting a substantial block shows that they have faith in Montpelier as a business center and are certainly to be commended for the enterprising spirit displayed.

TUNKS BROS. DONATE TO SOLDIER BOYS

Tunks Bros. have decided to donate the entire proceeds next Monday from their pool and billiard tables for the benefit of the Bear Lake boys at American Lake. Sam Tunks informs us that they will either send the money direct of turn it over to the Red Cross chapter of this city., if the latter desires to handle the funds. It is the desire of the Tunks Bros. that proceeds of next Monday be used in buying tobacco and candy for the boys at Camp Lewis. This is a generous act and one which the soldier boys will appreciate.

A flourishing business in two towns is the record of Tunks Brothers since opening the Corino Billiard Parlor four years ago. The present business location has been bought and is the property of S V and S R Tunks. Ten billiard tables are in use and a modern fountain dispenses all "soft drinks" on demand.

At Lava Hot Springs six tables and two bowling alleys are in used in the new building recently purchased. S R Tunks has been managing the Lava business since last June.

The first part of the week fire damaged the large building at Lava Hot Springs occupied by Tunks Brothers of which Sebe Tunks was manager. The fire damaged the roof to quite an extent, according to report and in fighting and combating the flames, the stock of goods carried by the firm were also damaged.
