Yesterday Ike Tunks was put on trial on the charge of grand larceny, it being alleged that he had stolen a horse. A motion for a change of venue was argued but Judge Standrod overruled the same and the cause went to trial. A jury was secured by noon and after dinner the evidence was taken. Bagley and Glenn appeared for Tunks.
The jury rendered a verdict of guilty in this case. The other case against Tunks will come up for trial today.

DISTRICT COURT
The second case of Ike Tunks, that of assault, came up Wednesday
and was postponed til Thursday and then til Friday. Friday Ike Tunks was tried
for assault with intent to kill. The jury returned a verdict of acquittal.
Page 3-Last Saturday evening Ike Tunks was sentenced to one year in the penitentiary. The judge expressed regret that the was compelled to even impose that time. The sentence is the lowest the law allows to be passed in such cases. Tunks will probably not serve longer than November as his case has been appealed to the supreme court.
