FINAL RITES FOR MONTPELIER MAN
Lawrence Lashbrook, 67, died at this home in Montpelier on August 29. He was born in Geneva on June 13, 1892, the son of Edward Laker and Mary Johnson Lashbrook. Mr. Lashbrook was associated for years at Geneva in ranching and sheep raising with his brother, the late Edward Lashbrook. He retired in 1951 and had lived in Montpelier since 1945.
Mr. Lashbrook was a World War I veteran and a former member of Post 63, American Legion. He never married. Surviving are two sisters Mrs. Lyllias Preston, Montpelier and Mrs. Anne Stromberg of Salt Lake City and 35 nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 1 pm Tuesday in the Geneva LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Daren T Tueller conducting. The opening song "Rest, Rest for the Weary Soul" was by the Singing Mothers; invocation Edward Bischoff; vocal solo "The Lord's Prayer" by Deanne Evans; obituary Bishop Tueller; speakers Robert Teuscher and Bishop Lyman N Tueller; vocal solo "Beyond the Sunset" Lyle Boehme, accompanied by Mrs. Eva Dayton; benediction Homer J Teuscher. Doyle Sleight offered the prayer in the Relief Society room.
Interment was in the Geneva cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Bishop Boyd Smart.
Military rites were accorded the World War I
veteran by Post 63, American Legion with Eugene J Grimes, sergeant at arms,
Commander Kay Allred and Dick Rowland comprising the firing squad; Leland Tufts
and Richard Burgoyne, color guard and Phil Perkins acting as bugler and
presenting the American flag. Matthews Mortuary was in charge of
arrangements.
