Dr. and Mrs. George F Ashley are receiving the congratulations of their many friends upon the arrival of a sweet little girl at their home last Tuesday. All concerned are progressing favorably, except the doctor, who cannot be expected to act rationally for at least two weeks longer. Here's hoping the little girl may live long and prosper.

The friends of Dr. Ashley will be glad to know that he was discharged at the preliminary hearing on the charge of abortion which was recently preferred against him.

The preliminary hearing was held on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week before Justice Staley in Montpelier.  After extensive arguments by the attorneys the court granted the motion and discharged the doctor.

The Montpelier Examiner, Thursday, 21 June 1912

The Examiner is pleased this week to be able to chronicle the fact that Montpelier is soon to have a hospital which will be strictly modern in every particular.  For this much needed institution the community will be indebted to Dr. Ashley and Dr. Cooley.

This week these gentlemen purchased from L B Leverich, a plot of ground 80X150 feet in dimensions at the corner of Eight Street and Lincoln Avenue, upon which the hospital will be erected.

While plans for the building have not been completed, Dr. Ashley informs us that it will be approximately 30X40 feet, two stories and basement.
