Augustus Embley and Caroline Jane Pearce

Augustus Embley Pearce was born 18 May 1820 in Homerstown New Jersey, the son of Brazilla Pearce and Sarah Parker. Caroline Jane Pullen was born 29 Aug 1820 in Monmouth New Jersey, the daughter of Davidson James Pullen and Elizabeth Wright.  Augustus and Caroline were married 19 Feb 1842 in Burlington New Jersey.  They came to Utah in 1860 in one of the last handcart companies to cross the plains. Their children walked all the way from Council Bluffs Iowa to Salt Lake City.  After reaching Utah, Augustus and Caroline settled in Farmington and then moved to Morgan County.  They were called to go to St Charles and help develop that community in 1864.

At the age of seventeen, William Pearce was asked to drive an ox team and haul freight between Salt Lake City and the end of the Union Pacific Railroad which was being built westward.  Later he moved to Randolph to assist in the settlement of that section of Rich County. He drove ox teams over the California and Overland trails and saw a great deal of the west coast.  After he moved to Randolph, William met and courted Mary Mead Clucas, born 11 Nov 1854 in St Louis Missouri, the daughter of James Clucas and Mary Rex Mead,  They were married 26 Aug 1872 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake.

In 1901 William moved to Lyman Wyoming and bought a grocery store.  William loved to fish and hunt and always remembered the Bear Lake region for these virtues.  Mary Pearce died 25 Feb 1928 in Ogden Utah and William died 23 Jan 1934 in Evanston Wyoming.  Caroline Pearce died 3 Mar 1903 in Randolph Utah and Augustus Pearce died 22 Mar 1908 in Randolph.
