DECEMBER 18-Funeral services were held in the ward chapel Sunday over the remains of Thomas Gambling.  A large crowd was in attendance.  The speakers were Wm G Smith, Robert Shepherd, Bp. Wm R Morgan, Pres. Wm L Rich and Bishop S E Hymas, all of whom spoke very highly of the deceased.  Music was furnished by the ward choir.

Thomas Gambling was born at Long Stock Hampton, England, 12 May 1841. He came to this country about 38 years ago and soon after moved to Liberty, where he worked at the Liberty mill for a number of years after which he took up farming, making a success of it. When the Sharon ward was organized he was chosen ward clerk and was a great help in the ward. About four and a half years ago, he moved to Boise and lived with his son, R C Gambling until the time of his death which occurred December 9th, caused from heart failure.

The following children survive him, R C Gambling, of Boise, John Gambling of Sharon, Annie Derricott of Liberty, Rebecca Hanson of Montpelier, Nellie Perkins of Bennington, Lillie Sillite of Orton Canada, and Mary Grunder of Boise.  All were at the funeral but Mrs. Sillite.  All are good latter day saints which speaks well for the deceased, whose remains were laid to rest in the Liberty cemetery Sunday.
