MONTPELIER WOMAN DIED IN OGDEN
Sophronia Jane Dayton Bentsen, 67, long time resident, died Monday at a hospital in Ogden following a lingering illness. She was born August 17, 1891 at Dingle, the daughter of John Henry and Caroline Sparks Dayton. She and Chris Bentsen were married October 7, 1909 in the LDS Temple Salt Lake City. Mrs. Bentsen was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the B of R T. She was a teacher in the Fourth Ward Relief Society for 45 years and was also a teacher in Primary and Religion classes. She was preceded in death by a son John and husband on December 3, 1958.
Surviving are the following seven children; Carl Bentsen of Rawlins Wyoming, Gerald F C and A J Bentsen, Mrs. W D (Elma) Moss and Mrs. H A (Virl) McMurray, all of Montpelier and Mrs. Max (Bonnie) Stanfield of Salt Lake City. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers Alfred Dayton of Montpelier and Florin Dayton of Dingle, five sisters Mrs. Alice C Hansen of Ogden, Mrs. Chauncey (Olive) Michaelson of Montpelier, Mrs. Leo (Mildred) Nate of Dingle, Mrs. Delbert (Nelda) Smith of Montpelier and Mrs. Cecil (Ruby) Dunn of McCammon.
Services will be at 1 pm Friday in the Third-Fifth Ward Chapel. The remains may
be viewed at the Matthews Mortuary Thursday evening and prior to the funeral
Friday.
