FUNERAL RITES AND BURIAL HELD IN BENNINGTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Jane Butterfield Crane, wife of the late James G Crane, were conducted in the Bennington ward chapel on March 6. Mrs. Crane died March 2 in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Crane was born in Herriman, Utah March 24, 1872 to Almon and Elizabeth Farmer Butterfield. She was married to Mr. Crane on March 23, 1888 in the Logan Temple. He and her husband lived in Herriman until 1896 when they moved to Montpelier and Mr. Crane was in the livestock business. In 1902 he went into the livery business which he continued until 1905 when the family moved to Bennington, where he engaged in farming and stock raising. He died on September 5, 1917 and Mrs. Crane moved to Herriman where she spent the remained of her life.
At the time of her death she had 240 living direct descendants, 10 sons and daughters, 68 grandchildren and 153 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
She is survived by the following sons and daughters, James A A Crane, Mahonri B Crane and William B Crane all of Bennington, H C Crane of Nephi utah, Nathaniel Crane of Herriman, Mrs. Roy (Nettie) Boulter of Draper Utah, Mrs. Arthur (Elizabeth) Crane of Herriman, Mrs. Hyrum (Alice) Olsen of Ovid, Mrs. Melvin (Maud) Huggins, Rawlins, Wyoming and Mrs. Thomas (Cornelia) Butterfield, Salt Lake City; also four brothers and four sisters, John E Butterfield and Henry Butterfield of Herriman, Willard Butterfield of Riverton Utah, Parley B Butterfield of West Jordan Utah; Mrs. Nettie Crump and Mrs. Sylvia Freeman of Herriman, Mrs. Mary Jenson of Riverton and Mrs. Alice Bowen of Salt Lake City. Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death, George F Crane and Seth Crane and Mrs. Lee (Laura) Anderson.
Services were conducted by Jack R Crane with the opening song "Oh My Father" by the Bennington ward choir; invocation Bishop Jared Parker; obituary and remarks Bishop Alonzo Freeman of Herriman; trio "Beyond the Sunset" Mrs. Conover Wright, Mrs. Wilson Weaver and Samuel C Hall; speaker Hyrum Crane of Pocatello; vocal solo "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" Jerry Wright; speaker, Sidney E Burgoyne; song by trio "Come Unto Me" benediction President Ephriam S Miller of Malta. The prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Lester Armatage.
Interment was in the Bennington cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Parley P Butterfield. Bearers were Glen Mouritsen, Glen Olsen, Merrill Crane, James G Crane, Calvin Crane and Reid Crane.
