CHINESE PHEASANTS FOR BEAR LAKE COUNTY
State Game Warden Stephens notified Deputy Warden Dunford Tuesday that 20 pair of Chinese Pheasants would be shipped to him from Boise, if he had a place to car for them this winter.
Wednesday Mr. Dunford informed us that Russell Shepherd of Paris had volunteered to care for the birds this winter. Next spring they will be liberated under the directions of Mr. Dunford, who will place them at different points in the valley.
These birds are being sent here as an
experiment. Should they thrive in this climate the increase from the 20 pairs
will be sufficient in a few years to afford some sport for those who enjoy
hunting game birds.

Deputy Game Warden Dunford informs us that the Chinese pheasants, which were brought to this valley last fall, have wintered well under the care of Russell Shepherd of Paris. Only one out of the 40 birds died. The remaining 39 will be turned loose at different points in the valley about the middle of April.
