SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER RESIDENT
Mrs. Rose Knutti Hirschi, 81, who lived in Montpelier for many years, died on February 23rd at her home in Salt Lake City. Born March 11, 1873 in Darstetten, Switzerland to Michael and Elizabeth Jutzeler Knutti, Mrs. Hirschi came to America with her parents. She married Jacob J Knutti on March 11, 1893 in Montpelier and was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a member of the Montpelier First ward and was active in Primary and Relief Society work.
Survivors are three daughters Mrs. Howard (Marguerite) Buhler, Darby Montana; Mrs. Edna R Williams Provo Utah, and Mrs. Newell (Maude) Standley, Vallejo California; four sons L Edwin and Walter E Hirschi of Murray Utah, Bishop Harry M Hirschi of Pocatello and Alfred J Hirschi of Montpelier; one sister Mrs. Bertha Tueller Salt Lake City and one brother, E M Knutti of Montpelier; 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 pm Saturday in the Montpelier First Ward Chapel with Bishop Rolland L Jaussi conducting. The opening song "Oh My Father" was by a quartet comprised of Lloyd Messerley, Winslow Swensen, Mrs. Barndon Wilcox and Mrs. Walter A Hunzeker, with Mrs. Roy Jacobsen, accompanist; invocation Bishop Royal D Clark; remarks Bishop Jaussi; speaker Bishop Robert Schmid; vocal solo "In The Garden" Mrs. Hunzeker; speaker President Walter A Hunzeker; song "Abide With Me" quartet; benediction Winslow Swensen.
Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Newell Stanley.
