DEPARTED
On Friday March 8, the little seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Williams came home from school and told his mama he was sick. Thinking he
had a cold Mrs. Williams looked after him and until Monday he seemed to be
getting along, but during the afternoon he took to vomiting and later in the
evening complained of a pain in the stomach. Tuesday morning they sent for the
doctor but he had left town.
During the afternoon the little fellow appeared to be so much better and the doctor was notified that there was nothing serious and he was getting along alright. But the following day he took worse and when Dr. Ashley arrived he pronounced the case appendicitis. Thursday morning he was removed to the operating parlors in Montpelier where an operation was performed. He recovered from the operation and Thursday evening was exceptionally cheerful. As he kissed his mother good night, he said, "good night mamma," and dropped off the sleep. At 11:15 he passed away without uttering another word.
The funeral services were held Monday in the First ward meeting house where Elders W E Morgan, Thomas Sleight, Pres. W W Richards, T T Stucki and Bishop Poulsen spoke in words of tender sympathy to the family. His teacher, Miss Sarah Grimmett and his classmates occupied the front seat and presented a beautiful display of flowers.
