THIEF TAKES MONEY FROM RICH THEATRE

About $309 in currency was taken from a cash box at the Rich Theatre sometime Saturday morning containing part of the day's receipts from "The Ten Commandments" which closed an 11 day run Saturday evening.

Signs of the burglary were discovered by Wade Bills, who informed J L Clark, manager. Chief Melvin Mortensen, Sheriff O E Monson and Deputy George Ramey were called and an investigation made.  Apparently the thief hid in the theatre following the night show and left by the rear exit door as the bolt was pulled from the inside.  The front door was locked and undamaged.  Entrance into the office on the second story was made by forcing the lock of the door. The double door of the steel cabinet in which the cast was placed had been sprung.

Following procedure, a routine check was made of the theatre Friday night before closing.  However, there are places in which a person may have hidden and escaped detection, Mr. Clark said.
