RICHARD GROO DIES IN SAN DIEGO
Richard Groo, 79, of 3239 Vancouver avenue, San Diego, California, died May 25 at Del Capri Terrace rest home. Born in Salt Lake City, he came to Bear Lake as a child. His entire working career there was with the Bank of Montpelier where he was cashier for twenty-five years. He was active in civic affairs and was president of the Montpelier city council in 1923-1924.
He married Nina Hoff, who died April 23, 1937. A daughter Evelyn Groo Johnson died in April 1955. He served as escrow officer for the Bank of America in Los Angeles before moving to San Diego to make his home. There he was credit manager for the G V Escalante Co until his retirement in 1954. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge No 27, AF & AM and Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jean De Cuman of San Diego, a brother, Russell of Shell Beach California; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services were held in Bonham Brothers Mortuary under the auspices of East San Diego Masonic Lodge with interment in Mt Hope Cemetery.
