CITY MOURNS PASSING OF DR. REED J RICH
Dr. Reed J Rich, oldest practicing physician in the area, passed away in his home Monday, March 10 at the age of 85 years old.
Grandson of Charles C Rich, original settler of the Bear Lake area, Dr. Rich graduated from Paris Fielding High School in 1922 and began medical studies which resulted in a lifetime of service in the field of medicine.
In 1936 Dr. Rich along with Dr. Rulon Lindsay and Dr. Spencer Rich (one of two brother who also were medical doctors) opened the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier above what was then Thorpe Clothing store and which later became Abaddon products.
The Hospital remained in operation until 1950 when the present hospital was built.
