DIES FOLLOWING SHORT ILLNESS
 

Ray Ruben Humburg, 49, died following a short illness at 8:45 am Friday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital.  The son of Ruben and Edith Smith Humburg, he was born December 21, 1907 in Sharon.  Except for an enlistment period in the U S Navy, 1926-30, eight years residence in Portland and six in Soda Springs, Mr. Humburg lived the rest of his life in Montpelier.

He was a member of the LDS Church and a teacher in the Third Ward. At the time of death he was acting Noble Grand of the local IOOF Lodge.  Mr. Humburg and Flora Kunz were married July 19, 1927 in Soda Springs.  Besides his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Deller of Eugene, Oregon and Donna Rae Humburg of Montpelier; three brothers, Glen Humburg of San Bruno, California, Edward W Humburg of Portland and Sgt. 1/c Leo Humburg US Army stationed at Fort Ord, California; one sister Mrs. Clifford (Elaine) Pelton of Portland and one grandson.

Services were held at 2 pm Monday in the Montpelier Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Frank W Hirschi, conducting. The opening song "In The Garden" was by a trio comprised of Phil Hulme, Roger D Burgoyne and Eugene J Grimes, accompanied by Mrs. Hulme; invocation Elgin S Bridges; remarks Bishop Hirschi; speaker Hugh Phelps; vocal duet "My Faith In Thee" Mr. and Mrs. Burgoyne; speaker Eldon Cook; vocal solo "Going Home" Mr. Burgoyne; benediction Lloyd Messerly. The prayer at home was offered by Albert E Humburg and the prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Hulme.

Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Lyman S Sparks.  William, Ves and Melvin Lauridsen, Boyd Woolstenhulme, Jerry Lloyd, James Headlee were pall bearers. The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
