OVID

The two armies of Ovid made an advance upon the Rabbits last Saturday. General Reid's army attacked from the front while General Wilson's brigade made a right flank charge and the battle was hard fought.

Gen Wilson was disarmed early in the fight and taken to the rear.  The enemy were badly beaten on every hand.  Gen Reid made a bold charge and was entirely lost from his men for some time.  At sunset the enemy was rapidly retreating over the hills.

Owing to the difficulty gathering up the dead, it is impossible to give the exact number, but it is believed that about 200 were slain.  It is believed that Gen Reid's army had the greatest number to its credit.
