SERVICES HELD FOR ST CHARLES MAN
Orson Stock Rich, 84, life long pioneer resident of Bear Lake county, died at 4:30 pm February 6 at his home in St Charles. He was born October 9, 1874 in St Charles, the son of Hyrum S and Elizabeth Stock Rich. Mr. Rich was a grandson of Charles Coulson Rich, colonizer of Bear Lake valley in 1863 and Sarah Peck Rich.
Before retiring Mr. Rich engaged in farming and in his younger days was a carpenter. A member of the LDS Church he was a high priest and former superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a justice of the peace in St Charles. On October 17, 1894 Mr. Rich and Leola Booth were married in the Logan Temple. Mrs. Rich died December 7, 1907. To this union were born these three surviving children; Mrs. Orlando (Evelyn) Gooch of Ashton, Mrs. Conover (Lenore) Wright of Bennington and Eugene O Rich of Parker.
He married Alice Bolton in June 1918. From this union five children survive; Sterling B Rich of Garden City, Lowell B Rich of Ashton, Blaine B Rich of Brigham City, Russell B Rich of Pocatello and Glenn B Rich of St Charles. A daughter Marie died in infancy. Other survivors besides his widow are 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Elva) Pugmire of St Charles, Mrs. John (Ethel) Morgan of Logan, John Rich of St Charles and Ray Rich of Boise.
Funeral services were conducted in St Charles Tuesday at 1 pm with the prelude and postlude played by Opal Pugmire. The opening song "Come Unto Me" was by the choir; opening prayer, Jefferson Dunford; obituary, Conover Wright; remarks Bishop Lovell Booth; vocal solo "Oh My Father" Max Haddock; speaker Bishop Emerson Pugmire; vocal duet Bryan Booth and Hattie Wallentine; speaker, Bishop Arlin Pugmire; song "Abide With Me" choir; benediction John E Rich.
Prayer at the home was offered by Ray C Rich
and the grave was dedicated by Lothair Rich. The pall bearers were all sons of
Mr. Rich, Eugene O Rich, Sterling B Rich, Lowell B Rich, Russell B Rich, Blaine
B Rich and Glenn B Rich.
