Paris Post, Friday, 1 April 1910, page 3

Orson Pratt Allred, who died at Afton, Wyo. on March 19th was born in St Charles, this county, 43 years ago. He lived in this valley during the greater portion of his life and was widely known and universally esteemed here. His death came very suddenly. He was playing at an dance when he was taken seriously ill with severe pains in the stomach. He was taken to Afton and a physican called.

After some hours of suffering the physician pronounced the malady a stoppage in the intestines. An operation was performed but the patient never recovered from the influence of the chloroform. The deceased gentleman leaves a wife and eight children, the youngest being but 3 months old. They are, however, in comfortable circumstances. His wife is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum S Rich of St Charles.

The deceased was an industrious citizen, a kind husband and father and a faithful Latter day Saint. He was a natural musician and was always prominent in musical affairs. He was superintendent of the Fairview Sunday school and was a tireless worker in church affairs. He was the son of William and Orissa Bates Allred, who were pioneers in this region.

The funeral service was held in Fairview, a number of prominent gentlemen testifying to the many good qualities of his mind and heart. Marvin A Allred, brother, Lyle, Darrell and Calvert Allred, nephews and Misses Maud Allred and Leone Rich, nieces, of the deceased, went from here to attend the funeral. They report the most difficult traveling in his tory, the condition of the roads being almost beyond belief. After almost interminable difficulties they succeeded in getting through the mountains of drift snow, but not without various narrow escapes from accident.
