MISSING MAN REPORTED KILLED IN ACTION

T/Sgt. O'Neil Linford of St Charles reported missing since August 24, 1943, was killed in action over enemy territory in the Pacific Theater of War, his mother, Mrs. Alice Linford of St Charles, has been informed by the War Department.  He was an engineer and gunner on a B-24 that was hit by enemy fire while returning to its base.  More particulars would be forthcoming, the message stated.

Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers and a sister; Denzel Linford, Pocatello; Mrs. Myrtle Timmins, Smithfield Utah; Noel Linford, St Charles and James Linford, stationed on a Naval transport and Golden Linford of the Navy stationed in Seattle.
