Nels Andersen (sic) a resident of Montpelier for 54 years, died at his home here last Thursday, just three days after he had reached the age of eighty-five. He was born in Denmark, June 20, 1853, and in 1871 he emigrated to the United States and worked in Illinois for six years before going to Hyde Park, Utah, where his parents were then living. He came to Bear Lake county in 1884 and the time of his death, had no known survivors.
Funeral services were held at the Fourth ward chapel Saturday at 12 noon with Bishop J J Sarbach in charge. The opening song, "Abide With Me" was by the choir; invocation John M Barkdull; song "I Need Thee Every Hour" by choir; speaker, Bishop Sarbach; vocal solo "Lay My Head Beneath A Rose" F M Williams; speaker President Ed C Rich; song "Nearer My God to Thee" by choir; benediction Louis Schrier.
Pall bearers were Earl Wilcox, Carl Bentsen, Allen Koford, George Koford, William Lauridsen, Sylvester Lauridsen. The grave was dedicated by Fred Bartlome.
