Mary Ann Hoge

The sympathies of all citizens of this community go out in full measure to the heart broken husband and his children over the crushing sorrow that has come to them, through the death of Mrs. Mary Ann Hoge, who died here last Sunday after several weeks of suffering.

Impressive funeral services were held in the Second ward chapel Wednesday morning and interment was made in the city cemetery. Bishop Morris Low presided and the singing was furnished by a quartet including A W Shepherd, H L Spencer, Mrs. J Russell Shepherd and Mrs. H L Spencer. The first speaker was Bishop James S Poulson, said he knew the deceased since she was little girl and watched her grow into womanhood. She was active in the ward and had won the praise of all who knew her.

Pres. Roy A Welker, told of the brave struggle she had made during her illness, conquering one ailment, when another one would set in, until gravity pneumonia, resulted and claimed her life dying at 5 pm Sunday afternoon. Mary Ann Hoge was born September 12, 1888, at Logan, Utah. With her parents Mr. and Mrs. J A Wahlen, now of Hyrum Utah, she came to Paris and spent her girlhood days here. 1907 she was married to William B Hoge and from the union they were blessed with 5 children.

The following relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral. Mr. J C Wahlen of Logan, Mr. and Mrs. J H Wahlen and daughter, LaReta and Fern of Hyrum, Mr. and Mrs. C L Reece of Benson Ward, Mr. and Mrs. C A Hall and daughter Marcelle of Salt Lake City, Dr. W S Hoge of Blackfoot and Mrs. Lizzie Pendrey of Montpelier.
