Mrs. Dan Beard died at her home in Montpelier Sunday morning, December 19th, following a year's illness caused by a stroke and broken hip. Mrs. Beard, who was 82 years and 9 months of age, was born n Wales and came to the United States when she was thirteen. She first lived in Providence, Utah, and moved from there to Nounan in 1872 and later to Montpelier, where she had since resided.

Her first husband was the late Hyrum Skinner and she was married to Dan Beard in 1892. She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs. William Hughart of Boise; Mrs. Sarah Jewett of Montpelier, and Mrs. Flora Thornock of Bloomington; also ten grand children and sixteen great grandchildren. Other survivors are three sisters and two brothers as follows; Mrs. Elizabeth Hix of St Anthony, Mrs. Sarah Tuttle of Ogden, and Mrs. Esther Nye of Montpelier; David R Chugg of Rupert and Philip Chugg of Nampa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 12 noon in the Fourth ward chapel conducted by Bishop J J Sarbach. The opening song was "O My Father" by the Fourth ward Singing Mothers under the direction of Mrs. Angie C Arnold; invocation, Simon Einzinger; song "I need Thee Every Hour" Singing Mothers. The speakers were Bishop Nephi Skinner of Nounan, President Silas L Wright and Bishop Sarbach. F M Williams sang "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose" and the closing musical number was a solo by Mrs. B E Munford "Going Home" closing prayer, Fred Bartlome.

The remains were taken to Nounan for burial and the grave was dedicated by Bishop Skinner. Six grandsons of Mrs. Beard acted as pall bearers.
