COUNTY'S ELDEST RESIDENT DIES
Martha Ashworth Pugmire Tremelling, Bear Lake county's eldest resident died in her 97th year at 1 pm Monday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Alvin Bohl. Until her death, which came suddenly, Mrs. Tremelling had been active and interested in current affairs.
She was born December 13, 1857 in Radcliffe, Lancashire England. A convert to the LDS Church, she came to America in1881, settling first at Evanston Wyoming. She later lived for a while at Rexburg and in 1907 came to St Charles, where she resided until moving to Montpelier 35 years ago. Her first husband, Mr. Walker, and two children preceded her in death in England. She and Joseph Hyrum Pugmire were married April 2, 1882 and later sealed in the LDS Temple in Logan. Mr. Pugmire died in 1906 and also two children were born to that union. A third marriage was to Solomon W Tremelling, August 18, 1908 in St Charles. Mr. Tremelling died in 1920.
Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Bohl (Alice Pugmire) are four sons Joseph Pugmire of Tacoma; James Pugmire of Boise, Jesse L Pugmire of Shelley and Ray D Pugmire of Montpelier. Services were held at 1 pm Wednesday in the Fourth Ward chapel with burial in the Montpelier cemetery. The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
