Mark Willard Stucki
Mark Willard Stucki was born August 24, 1949 to Willard and Ada Stucki (deceased) and grew up in Paris, ID. Mark passed away in Arizona on June 24th 2017 after a courageous 20+ year battle with rheumatoid arthritis and other health issues. Mark was a lettered track, basketball and football athlete at Bear Lake High School and remained a sports enthusiast throughout his life. He was in the first graduating class of 1968. Upon completing his Civil Engineering degree at Utah State University, and Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Hawaii, Mark went on to connect people across the country by building complex freeway systems in Hawaii, Texas, Arizona, California, and New Mexico.
Mark married Valerie Layland on December 27, 1968 in Logan, UT. Their children (with spouses) are Rachelle (Jonathan Barrington), Ryan (Christina), and Jason (Fallon). Mark’s greatest joy in life was his grandchildren; Sienna, Shelbi, Blake, Gabriel and Cecilia.
He found his second “career” as a grandfather his most rewarding job. Mark loved to vacation with his children and grandchildren and some of his favorite trips were camping, going to the Imperial Dunes, visiting Bear Lake, and swimming with his grandchildren. Mark’s upbeat attitude and mirth despite his constant pain and health issues was an inspiration to many.
