RESIDENT OF BLOOMINGTON DIES
Margaret Alice Briscoe Payne, 74, lifelong resident of Bloomington, died at 10:40 am Wednesday in Bancroft, where she and her husband Joseph Burton Payne, were spending the winter. Mrs. Payne was born in Bloomington March 30, 1882, the daughter of George and Mary Ward Briscoe. The couple were married January 18, 1907 in Bloomington and the ceremony was solemnized October 20, 1936 in the LDS Temple at Logan. Mrs. Payne was a teacher in the Relief Society of the Bloomington ward for 40 years.
Surviving are the seven children born to the couple; twin sons, Burton S Payne of Ogden and Wilton G Payne of Bancroft; another son Fawn B Payne of Fairbanks, Alaska; Mrs. Milton (Mary) G Korous of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Frank G (Zola) Jarvis of Ogden; Mrs. Leroy (Alice) Potter of Lava Hot Springs and Ira J Payne of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday in the Bloomington LDS ward chapel. Remains may be viewed at the Bloomington residence of Mrs. Payne's niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. J Bryan Haddock. The Matthews Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
