Mrs. Katie Chivers, 83 years of age, passed away at her home in Bern Saturday, May 23rd. Mrs. Chivers was the daughter of John and Rosina Kunz, early settlers of Bear Lake County. She was born September 21, 1848 in Bern, Switzerland. She emigrated with her parents, brothers and sisters, August 5th 1870, the family living in Ovid for sometime afterwards settling in Bern.

She married James H Chivers of Malad, Idaho, July 19, 1904. Mrs. Chivers or Aunt Katie as she was familiarly called among her loved ones, was an ardent Temple worker having devoted the best years of her life and all her means for that purpose. She was a practical nurse.

Funeral services were held from the Bern Ward Chapel May 25th, Bishop Parley Kunz presiding. Invocation by Bishop John T Peterson of Ovid; the songs were furnished by the Ovid Ward Choir. The speakers were Bishop Robert Schmid, President H H Hoff; a song by the Primary girls, followed by President Ed C Rich, F M Winters and Bishop Parley Kunz. All speakers paid high tribute to the departed one.

Mrs. Chivers is survived by her brother, Robert Kunz of Bern and numerous nephews and nieces throughout the intermountain country. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago.
