EARLY DAY RESIDENT OF MONTPELIER DIES
Julia Thornton Bissegger, 88, long time Montpelier resident, died at 11:10 pm Wednesday in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital of causes incident to age. She was born July 30, 1870 at Providence Utah, the daughter of Jasper and Sarah Elizabeth Dunn Thornton.
Mrs. Bissegger was a member of the LDS Church, served in the Third Ward Relief Society presidency as counselor and visiting teacher for over 50 years. While at Neeley, Idaho ward, she was Relief Society secretary. She was a charter member and past president of both Montpelier Chapter of American War Mothers and Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and was a past state treasurer of American War Mothers. She and Adolph Bissegger were married September 20, 1888 in Logan. Mr. Bissegger died May 26, 1948. Mrs. Bissegger was the mother of 13 children, four of whom died in infancy; A H Bissegger who died July 30, 1939 and Melvin David Bissegger November 11, 1925
Surviving are seven children, Mrs. A L (Lareva) Berrey of Montpelier, J Lyle Bisseger and Mrs. Olive Norby both of Pocatello, M R Bissegger and Mrs. Leslie B (Rena) White both of Salt Lake City, Vernon A Bissegger of Tooele Utah, and Mrs. John R (Lanor) Conner of Arlington Virginia; a sister Mrs. Enez Hoff of Georgetown; 26 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 12 m. Saturday in the Third-Fifth ward chapel with
Matthews Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
