RESIDENT OF BLOOMINGTON DIES
 

Joseph Peter Patterson, 75, lifelong Bear Lake resident, died at 5 am Tuesday at his home in Bloomington.  Mr. Patterson former bishop of the Bloomington Ward, was active in LDS affairs. He engaged in farming.  The son of Edward M and Mary Thompson Patterson, he was born in Bloomington, April 2, 1879.  He labored on a mission in the Central States from 1905 to 1907 and served the Bloomington Ward and Bear Lake Stake in many capacities.  He was ward Sunday School superintendent and member of the stake Sunday School board.  For many years he was a member of the Bear Lake Stake high council.  He was bishop in Bloomington nine nears.

At the time of his death he was secretary to the Stake Aaronic Priesthood committee and also Sunday School teacher and ward teacher.  He was married to Elva Thornock April 12, 1905.  One child preceded him in death.  Besides his widow he is survived by nine children; Mrs. Claude (Della) Bingham of Burley, Mrs. LaVon (Norma) Sprouse of Garden City, Mrs. Lester (Lola) Skinner of Nounan.  Joseph H Patterson of Boise, Mrs. Davis (Virtue) Wallentine of Nounan, George E Patterson of Logan, Mrs. Eugene (Aleene) Humphries of Rupert, Mrs. Arvis (Vyonne) Edmondson of Paul Idaho and Mrs. George (Barbara) Hulme of Paris.

Also surviving are a brother, James W Patterson of Bloomington and seven sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Painter and Mrs. Charles Painter, both of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Alfred A Hart of Bloomington, Mrs. Stanley Dunford of Provo, Mrs. Wendell Christensen of Provo, Mrs. Osmond Dunford of Payson, Utah and Mrs. Ida Ward of Mesa Arizona; 27 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Friday in the Bloomington ward chapel with the Matthews Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
