Joseph William Linford, son of Joseph W and Mary Rich Linford, died suddenly at 9 am Sunday January 21, at his home in St Charles. He was apparently in good health up to the time of his death but was stricken suddenly while talking over the telephone arranging the details of a genealogical meeting which he expected to attend that afternoon. He died at once without regaining consciousness.

He was born at Paris, September 2, 1867, moving with his father's family to St Charles in the spring of 1884 and had served 17 years in the ward bishopric. Mr. Linford fulfilled two missions at New Zealand, serving seven years as district president of the New Zealand Mission. He was the president of the YMMIA for a number of years. At the time of his death he was president of the Mouri Association of the Bear Lake Stake and could speak the language perfectly. He was Stake superintendent of the Genealogical Association, a member of the district school board and a teacher in the Gospel Doctrine class of the Sunday School.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Esther and the following adopted children; Mrs. Lee Rich, Salt Lake City, Frank and Percy of St Charles and Clifford of Los Angeles, California. Rex, a boy of four years that they had reared from infancy died November 15, 1914. His brothers and sisters surviving are Mrs. Eliza Denio, Salt Lake, Charlie, Centerville Utah; James, Logan; Mrs. George Gibby, Pocatello; Amasa, Salt Lake; and Mrs. Horvin Bunderson of Brigham, Utah; also a host of more distant relatives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 pm at St Charles.
