SUDDEN DEATH OF JOHN ALBERT PARKER
John Albert Parker, 70, died suddenly at about 8:30 pm Wednesday of a heart attack while watching TV in his home at 340 North 11th street. Mr. Parker retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer in November 1956. The son of Arthur F and Katherine Zumbrennan Parker, he was born August 24, 1889 at Liberty. Except for a residence of five years at Glenns Ferry, Mr. Parker spent all his adult life in Montpelier. He was a member of the LDS Church and also of B of LF & E.
He and Cecilia Agnes Grunig were married May 15, 1916 in Montpelier. Besides his widow he is survived by three sons and one daughter, Alfred A Parker and Stanley W Parker, both of Pocatello, Mrs. H D (Lois) Greenlee and Freddie A Parker, both of Montpelier. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. Guy (Minnie) Davis of Huntington Park, California, Mrs. Glenn (Martha) Lewis of Alameda California, Mrs. H V (Ethel) Andreason of Oakland, California, Mrs. Charles (Daisy) Bartschy of Longview Washington, Clifford Parker of Baker Oregon, Mrs. Derell (Nellie) Wilson and Lloyd E Parker, both of Portland Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services were held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Montpelier LDS Second ward chapel with Bishop Boyd H Smart conducting. The invocation was offered by Harold Grunig; vocval solo “Going Home” Max Haddock, accompanied by Mrs. Lester Armatage; obituary and remarks Bishop Smart; speaker Bishop Alvin C Tueller; organ selection Mrs. Armatage; speaker Bishop Archie Parker; vocal duet “Beyond the Sunset” Mrs. Dean Larsen and Warren Wright; benediction A O Jensen.
The prayer at the mortuary was given by Olean Parker and Mrs. Armatage played
the prelude and postlude. Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery where the
grave was dedicated by Bishop Archie Parker. Pallbearers were H P Larsen, Don
Perkins, Don Pugmire, Robert Talbot, Rulon Kunz, and A M Bridges. Matthews
Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
