Funeral services were held at 1 pm Sunday for John P Ipsen at the Bennington ward chapel under the direction of Bishop Clarence L Wright. The opening song "I Need Thee Every Hour" was sung by the ward choir and invoction was offered by F M Winters; "The Teachers Work is Done" was sung by a male quartet composed of G E Hulme, Irvin Mouritsen, Reao Weaver and S C Hall. Speakers were Bishops Jared Parker and G E Hulme, President Silas L Wright, Bishop Clarence L Wright and President Ed C Rich. Vocal solo "Going Home" by Mrs. Lewis Perkins; closing song Sweet Hour of Prayer" by the ward choir; benediction was by Joseph Robison. Interment was in the Montpelier city cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by J A Crane.

Mr. Ipsen died following a stroke. He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters; Mrs. Estella Merrill and Mrs. A C Van Orman of Montpelier; Mrs. James Hansen of Odgen; A R Ipsen of San Francisco; Mrs. G C Stephens, Loren and Lloyd Ipsen all of Bennington; thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Other survivors are two half sisters and one half brother.

John Ipsen was born April 28, 1856 in Brigham City, Utah. He later moved with his parents to Mantua, Utah. He was married to Miss Caroline Larsen December 29, 1877. He fulfilled a mission to Norway leaving in 1883 leaving behind his wife and three small children. He moved to Bennington in 1900 where he has since resided. He has been an active church worker and in civic affairs, holding positions as member of the city council of Brigham City and member of the Montpelier stake high council.

He was a man of quiet unassuming character and had many devoted friends from the tribute given to his high character and capacity for service by all speakers at the funeral. Plans for the celebration of the sixtieth wedding anniversary December 29 of Mr. and Mrs. Ipsen had been made prior to his illness.
