SERVICES
Joseph Nicholls, 85, Ovid resident for the past 24 years, died in
Ovid on May 15. He was born at Jackson Ohio on June 30, 1873 and operated a
store and service station during his residency in Ovid until the last few years.
He is survived by a son, Delphard David of Las Vegas, Nevada, a daughter,
Elizabeth Babcock of Canoga Park California and and son, Charles Nicholls of
Ovid, also ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 pm in the Ovid Chapel. Prelude and postlude were by Nina Sorenson, opening prayer, Bishop Clarence Rich, songs by members of the Singing Mothers, Ivy Jensen, Delma Sorenson, Marietta Sorenson, Ruth Beck, LaRae Nielson and Audrey Nielson; obituary and talk Bishop Russell Sorenson.
Graveside services were conducted by Jerry Lloyd of the IOOF Lodge of which Mr. Nicholls had been a member for 57 years, joining in Pratt West Virginia in 1901. Pallbearers were members of the lodge, J W Lauridsen, James Headlee, Sherman Burgoyne and Mr. Lloyd, assisted by Ray Johnson and Harley Peterson. Interment was in Montpelier Cemetery under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
