On Monday last James Quinton of Bloomington, a highly esteemed pioneer of this valley, passed to final rest. He was one of the best known old time residents in the valley and was noted for his honesty and genial nature. He had reached the age of about ninety years. He held prominent position as a Latter-day Saint and was always attentive to his duties.

The funeral service was held in the Bloomington hall Wednesday and was well attended. Bishop Findlay presided and the speakers were Presidents W L Rich and W W Richards, Elders Peter Greenhalgh, Thomas Sleight, L T Shepherd, Andrew Jacobson of Bloomington and others, all of whom spoke in the highest terms of the deceased gentleman.

James Quinten died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W H Painter of Bloomington, on Monday, June 7th. Deceased was born in Wiltshire England, on Jan 13th, 1824. He united with the LDS Church in 1845 and came to Bear Lake county in 1883. He labored in Bear Lake Stake for a number of years and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

His funeral, which was held at the Bloomington meeting house Wednesday morning, was largely attended. The speakers were Presidents William L Rich and W H Richards, Bishop Lindsay and Andrew Jacobsen, Tracy Shepherd and Peter Greenhalgh.  All referred to the noble life the deceased had led and the good work he had done in preaching the gospel.
