SERVICES IN OVID
James A Jensen, 79, of Ovid died at 10:30 am May 11 in the local
hospital. Mr. Jensen was found unconscious about 2:30 pm, May 5, near his ranch
home north of Ovid. He had suffered a stroke shortly before and fallen from the
horse he was riding.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jensen, early Bear Lake county settlers, he was born in Ovid May 16, 1870. He engaged in farming and sheep raising. His wife, Johanna Overgaard Jensen, died in August 1941. He was a member of the LDS church. Surviving are three brothers, O P Jensen of Shelley, Idaho Lorenzo and Chris Jensen, both of Heyburn and one sister Mrs. Harry Burgess of Los Angeles, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held in the Ovid ward chapel with Bishop James Olsen officiating. The opening song was by Bishop and Mrs. Olsen, with Mrs. Lester Armatage as accompanist, invocation, Alvin Beck; speaker Bishop Oliver L Peterson; vocal solo, Nile Matthews; speaker F M Beck, vocal duet, Bishop and Mrs. Olsen; benediction, Russell Sorenson.
Interment was in the Ovid cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Chris Jensen. Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
