Jacob Jensen, 59, died at a Pocatello hospital June 14 after a brief illness, pneumonia being the direct cause of his death. The funeral services were in charge of Bishop J J Sarbach at the LDS Fourth Ward chapel June 16 at 2 pm.
Opening song by the choir "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" invocation by Bishop Robert Schmid of Bern; vocal solo "Going Home by Miss Lottie Grosjean; speakers were Bishop Sarbach, Bishop S E Burgoyne, President H H Hoff, and President Silas L Wright; all paid splendid tributes to life's work of the deceased; closing song "Nearer My God To Thee" benediction by Elder James Jensen of Montpelier.
Interment was made in the cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Bishop Schmid. The B of LF and E held a short service at the grave side with appropriate remarks by John Taylor and a prayer by Fred Robbins, paying homage to their departed brother. Pall bearers were William Phillips, William Hughes, Fred Robbins, Alvin Bohi, George Gooch and Claud Mickle.
Mr. Jensen was born November 13, 1879, at Montpelier, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Jensen, early pioneers of Utah and Idaho. He was an employee of the Oregon Short Line railroad from 1908 until the time of his death. Besides his widow, Mrs. Eliza Schmid Jensen, he is survived by two brothers, James A Jensen of Boise, a Spanish War veteran; and Isaac Jensen and a sister, Kathryn A Slatermen of Ontario Oregon and the following stepchildren; Mrs. Ray H Walker of Pocatello, Mrs. Ivan O Phelps, Charles and John H Schmid of Montpelier.
