DIES FOLLOWING SHORT ILLNESS
 

Isaac Johnson, 79, life long resident of Ovid, died November 13 in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  The son of Andrew and Christina Hansen Johnson, he was born October 2, 1879. A retired rancher and stockman, Mr. Johnson engaged in buying cattle the past few years.  Active in religious and civic affairs, Mr. Johnson served as superintendent of the Ovid Sunday school and also superintendent of the YMMIA. He was a trustee of the Ovid school district for several terms and water master of the Ovid Irrigation company.  For many years he served as constable.  His greatest pleasure came from social activities and working with young people.

He was married to Martha Jane Hymas in 1899 and the ceremony was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.  Mrs. Johnson preceded him in death on August 27, 1955. Rulon and Melvin Johnson, two sons also preceded him in death.

Surviving are eight children, Bartell Johnson of Georgetown, Mrs. Spencer (Marietta) Sorenson of Ovid, Ova L Johnson of Tooele, Mrs. Delmar (Wanda) Kunz of Bern, Thiel Johnson of Pico California, Elzo Johnson of Ogden, Harmon Johnson of Smithfield and Mrs. Russell (June) Solum of Georgetown; two brothers, Ezra Johnson of Ovid and Hans Johnson of Shelly Idaho; two sisters Mrs. E G Edwards of Montpelier and Mrs. Melvina Wilson of Ogden; 26 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Services were held at 11 am Monday in the Ovid Ward Chapel with Bishop Russell Sorenson conducting. The opening song "The Lord's Prayer" was by the Bern Trio comprised of Marlene Kunz, Laura Kunz and Verla Kunz, accompanied by Ramona Johnson; invocation Lorenzo Shurtliff; obituary Bishop Sorenson; speaker Alfred Jensen; vocal solo; "In The Garden" Helen Parker accompanied by Nina Sorenson; speaker Rao Dunford; song "Prayer Perfect" Bern Trio; benediction Willard Johnson. The prayer at home was offered by Harmon Johnson.

Interment was in the Ovid cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Thiel Johnson. The Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

NEWS FROM GEORGETOWN
 

Mrs. Russell Solum and Bartell Johnson's father Isaac Johnson of Ovid, died on Thursday.  Those from here attending the funeral services in Ovid on Monday for Isaac Johnson were Mr. and Mrs. Bartell Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Solum and Rao Dunford.
