Hyrum Jacob Nelson, 65,a native of Bloomington, died at his home Sunday after a long illness. He underwent an operation 15 months ago. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in the Bloomington LDS chapel. He was a prominent stockman of Georgetown and Bloomington.
He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Julia Rasmussen Nelson and the following son and daughters; Mrs. Clarence Bolton, Mrs. Cyril Johnson, Ruby Jay and Vanna Nelson.

Impressive and large funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14 for Hyrum Jacob Nelson in the Bloomington ward chapel. The services were presided over by Bishop John P Hulme. The opening son was rendered by the choir, "Behold Tis Even Tide" John A Ward offered the opening prayer which was followed by the opening prayer which was followed by a second selection from the choir, "Sometime We'll Understand." Remarks were made by Bishop Hulme, President A A Hart, Bishop Ernest W Allred of St Charles and August Schmid of Georgetown.
The choir then sang "My Father Knows" with the solo part sung by Mrs. Ruth Dunford. The speakers, James L Dunford of Paris, Milton Smith of Georgetown and H H Broomhead, spoke in high praise of the departed. The closing song by the choir was "O Praise Him" which was followed by benediction by Alma Findlay Jr. The grave was dedicated by Bishop Alma Findlay. Interment was in the Bloomington cemetery.
