Bear Lake Memorial Hospital

Dr. George Franklin Ashley built Bear Lake's first major hospital in 1912.  The building still stands and is known as the Mary K Apartments at Eighth and Lincoln.

This was the second Bear Lake Memorial Hospital and was located on Washington Street. It was replaced by a newer hospital in 1950.

Club Contributes TV to Hospital

Montpelier Lions Club presented their annual show, Lionscoonscapades, in the MHS Auditorium Friday and Saturday. Proceeds from the performances went toward the purchase of a TV set for the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. Presentation on behalf of President Jack Crane and members was made by Rex Williamson, who while in the hospital realized a TV would be a worthwhile contribution to the hospital. Acceptance for county commissioners, hospital advisory board and people in the future who may benefit, was by H G Ericsson, administrator. He expressed his thanks to the Lions Club for the fine gift and the thought behind it and said seeing TV was a fine way to wile away convalescing hours.
