FIRE DESTROYS HESS PROPERTY

A fire destroyed lambing sheds, 150 ewes and lambs, harness, saddles, feed, 1000 pounds of wool and tools belonging to Charles E Hess and son, Dr. Spencer Hess, Friday evening. Loss, which was only partially covered by insurance, was estimated at $10,000.

Cause of the destructive fire was attributed to a gasoline lantern.  The blaze was discovered at about 8:30 pm by Lloyd Johnson, night man at the lambing set up, located two miles west of Georgetown.  Efforts to control the fire were of no avail.  The sheds were 150 feet in length and 26 feet wide.

Lambing was continued in a large tent and improvised sheds.
