SUDDEN DEATH OF PARIS RESIDENT
Henry Humpherys, 73, died Monday, September 8, at the family home in Paris. He was born April 18, 1885, the son of George and Sarah Ann Eaton Humphreys in Paris, and was married to Lula Lindsay June 28, 1912 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died September 30, 1918. He married Maud Lindsay on July 20, 1920 in the Logan LDS Temple. One son Leslie John Humpherys, died at birth on September 3, 1922.
Mr. Humphreys was employed by the Utah Power and Light Company for over 40 years and was a well known Paris electrician. He held numerous civic and church positions and was a member of city council. He served on a mission in the southern states for the LDS Church, of which he was a member. He was a member of the bishopric in the Paris First Ward, a member of the Sunday School superintendency, ward teacher, teacher and leader in priesthood quorums and other church organizations. At the time of his death he was counselor in the Bear Lake Stake High Priest quorum.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, Bernard Humpherys of San Diego California, and Lowell Humpherys of Montpelier; two daughters, Virola Collins of Paris and June Monson of Burley; also five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at one o’clock in the Paris First
Ward LDS Chapel with interment in the Paris cemetery.
