Henry Herman Hoff
Montpelier Examiner, 30 January 1920, page 4
On Thursday morning of last week the attention of the Mayor and council was called to the fact that they had violated the nepotism law and on Friday morning, Mayor Hoff called the council in special session, at which the resignation of William George and Nolan Nelson were accepted. However, as the Mayor was unable to secure a man during the day to serve as night policeman that night, Mr. George was kept on duty while Robert Ray was asked to look after the water system.
Wednesday of this week Mayor Hoff announced the appointment of William Barnes as superintendent of the water works and Ray Pugmire as night policeman.
