Grant and Ellen Mary Campbell

Grant Campbell was born 7 June 1828 in Ridgebury Pennsylvania, the son of John Campbell and Mercy Warden. Ellen Mary Hawk was born 12 Jan 1835 in Indiana, the daughter of Henry and Jane Hawk.  Grant married Ellen 4 July 1849 in Council Bluffs Iowa.  They traveled to North Ogden Utah living there for several years. Grant married Caroline Elizabeth Hubbard 25 Dec 1857 in Salt Lake City. Caroline was born 16 Mar 1842 Lapeer Michigan, the daughter of Tilla Hubbard and Hulda Parrish. In response to the call from Brigham Young to help settle Bear Lake Valley, Grant and his families arrived in Bloomington in the fall of 1864.  They stayed there for two years.

Grant was an expert with an ax and spent his childhood days in the Minnesota woods cutting trees and planning them down for building materials.  He built several log homes in Bloomington along with other work to help feed and clothe his families.  He moved his families to Montpelier to help settle it and built a two room log house with a door for each room making a separate unit for each wife.
 
On 1 Feb 1874, Ellen Mary died and was buried in the Montpelier cemetery. Grant built a two story log house at Fairview Wyoming and lived there for many years.  Caroline died there 14 May 1898 and was buried there. Grant died 20 Nov 1915 in Lewiston Utah and was buried in Fairview.
