DEATH OF WORLD WAR I VETERAN
George Edward Young, 63, died Wednesday in Blackfoot. The son of William and Louisa Norton Yung, he was born December 2, 1895 in London, England. He father died when he was 15 years of age. He served in the British Army in the Middlesex regiment for several years and was later transferred to a Canadian regiment. He was sent to Russia at the time of Bolshevik uprisings and was badly wounded and suffered severe shell shock in the trenches in France. While he was in France his mother died and he was allowed to attend her funeral in London.
In August 1921, he left England for America to make his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O T Parker in Wardboro. He enjoyed the farm and improved his health. He loved to walk to Montpelier and back. He was a social member of the American Legion for many years and an active member of the Third quorum of elders in the LDS Church. He was never married.
Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. John Boisson of London, Mrs. Ellen Burgess of Torquay, Devonshire, England and Mrs. Parker. Funeral arrangements are pending.
