George Reese was born in Aberdare, South Wales, 26 July 1840, the son of Thomas and Margaret (Jones). He was baptized into the church when he was 8 years old, his parents having been joined the church two years previous.

He came to Utah when 16 years old, crossing the plains with Capt. Bunker's Handcart Company, arriving in Salt Lake City on 2 Oct 1856. He moved to Willard Utah the same winter where he resided for a number of years. In 1863 he was called to go back on the plains with ox teams for emigrants. On the trip back he met a young woman and fell in love with her. She was Margaret Hughes, whom he married on 9 January 1864.

In 1864 he and Margaret moved to Bloomington Idaho. His wife Margaret died in 1866. In July 1873 he married Tabitha Jones, born 19 Jan 1854, daughter of Llewellyn Griffith Jones & Mary Jannette John, by whom he had three children. She died 17 December 1879 in Bloomington and was buried in the Bloomington Cemetery. On 2 Feb 1881 he married Elizabeth Jones, by whom he had three children. She was born 18 Mar 1844, the daughter of Llewellyn Jones and Mary John.

Elizabeth Jones Reese died 29 Nov 1907. George Reese was one of Bear Lake's most honored and respected pioneers. He died at his home in Bloomington 5 Jan 1910 and was buried in the Bloomington Cemetery.

The funeral service for the late George Reese was held in the Bloomington meeting house last Sunday and was attended by numerous relatives and friends. Addresses were delivered by Bishop Findlay and Elder Peter Greenhalgh, both speaking in high terms of the deceased.

George Reeves was born in Wales 75 years ago and was one of the pioneers of the valley, which he labored faithfully to develop. He was an earnest Latter-day Saint and an estimable citizen. He leaves 7 children and numerous grandchildren and other relatives.
