George Thomas Burke, well known Montpelier resident for many years, died Tuesday at 12:30 pm. He had been ill for several days following a stroke. Mr. Burke was born April 6, 1860 in Clayton City, Iowa. He came to Montpelier in 1890, where he had since resided and was employed by the Union Pacific until being pensioned. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E M Knutti of Pocatello, and two sons, Arthur M Burke of Montpelier and Lawrence Burke of Pasco, Washington. Also two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. William Beatty of North Platte, Nebraska and Mrs. E F Guyon of Pocatello; R C Burke of Rochester, Minnesota and Henry Burke of Prince George, British Columbia; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at one pm at the Community Church.

Funeral services for the late George Thomas Burke were held Saturday at one pm in the Community Church when the sermon was delivered by the Rev H E Stammer and the choir sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "No Night There." H B Whitman read the poem "The House at the Side of the Road."

The remains of Mr. Burke were held until Sunday, pending the arrival of a brother from the east. Sunday Rev Stammer conducted the short services at the Williams Mortuary and dedication services at the Montpelier cemetery where interment was made. Pall bearers were Frank Preston, Morris Day, J C Moore, Hans Larson, Lew Tanner and E B Nelson.
