Gene Pease
The Montpelier Examiner, February 3, 1913
Gene Pease, one of the oldest and most respected employees of the
Oregon Short Line had a narrow escape from most serious injury if not death last
Friday.
He was walking past a rip track at the roundhouse when a bar of iron about 20 feet long was accidentally thrown from the car. Mr. Pease was struck on the head and shoulders, inflicting a severe scalp wound and otherwise injuring him.
Had it struck him squarely on the head his skull no doubt would have been crushed. Although laid up he is expected to make a full recovery.
