Fredrick and Elizabeth Jacobson

Fredrick Jacobson was born 30 May 1820 in Hjorring Denmark, the son of Jacob Madsen and Marianne Christensen. Elizabeth Peterson was born 3 Dec 1825 in Hjorring Denmark, the daughter of Peter C Peterson and Annie K Olson.  They married 28 Dec 1845 in Hjorring. In 1863 they sailed with their children to join the saints in Utah.

Fredrick and Elizabeth with their surviving son Peter walked most of the way to Utah and settled in Copenhagen Utah, now Mantua.  Three weeks after their arrival, a girl was born to them.  Shortly after they settled they were called to Bear Lake Valley and helped colonize Bloomington. Fredrick, a carpenter built a one room dirt roof home where wagon covers were hung for doors to keep out the cold and rain. Fredrick took a second wife Mary Ann Larson in 1882. Fredrick died 23 June 1895 in Redmond Utah. Elizabeth died 11 Feb 1899 and was buried in the Bloomington Cemetery.
