Fred Oakey of Dingle, died at the Ashley & Cooley hospital in this city last Saturday morning. Death was caused from strangulation of the bowels. Mr. Oakey was taken suddenly ill on Wednesday, July 22, with what was thought to be appendicitis. He was brought to the hospital in Montpelier that evening and was operated on the following morning.

The operation revealed that he was suffering from an aggravated case of bowel strangulation and his condition was such that he could not obtain relief from the operation and death ended his suffering Saturday morning.

Mr. Oakey was about 65 years of age and had been a resident of this valley for 50 years or more. He was never married. Mrs. Sarah Sirrine and a brother, Hyrum, at Dingle and a brother in Salt Lake, who came to attend the funeral, which was held at the Dingle meeting house last Monday afternoon at 2 pm.
