DINGLE WOMAN DIES AT AGE OF NINETY-TWO YEARS
Mrs. Frederick E Nate, 92, died August 14 in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital of causes incident to age. Ettie Cerelda Dayton Nate, daughter of Moroni and Sarah Nichols Dayton, Bear Lake pioneers was born at Cedar Fort, Utah, on July 20, 1867. She moved with her parents to Dingle when she was 14 years old, and married Frederick E Nate in the Logan LDS Temple on November 14, 1885.
Mrs. Nate's service in LDS organizations began at an early age. She became a member of the Relief Society before her marriage and was a member of that organization for 75 years. She served as its president from 1922-1932. As a young woman she also worked for many years in the Religion class and Primary organizations.
Mr. and Mrs. Nate were the parents of nine children, and Mr. Nate preceded his wife in death in 1955. A daughter, Cerelda Nate Sparks also died. Four sons and four daughters survive their mother; George F Nate, Millie Nate Smedley, Oren Nate, Milton Nate and Gladys Nate Lyons, all of Dingle, Charles H Nate of Ogden, Myretta Nate Windley of St Charles and Melva Nate Woodland of Salt Lake City, also a grandson, Leo Bruce Sparks, whom the Nates reared from infancy, his mother having died shortly after his birth. Also surviving is one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Quayle Austin of Montpelier, 30 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services were conducted in the Dingle ward chapel on Monday at 11 am by Bishop Clifford Skinner. Family prayer prior to the services was offered by James M Oakey; vocal solo "Hold Thou My Hand, Dear Lord" Max T Haddock; invocation A D Oakey; selection "Wonderful Mother of Mine" ladies trio comprised of Mrs. Horsley Spencer, Mrs. C J Skinner and Mrs. Dean Larsen; obituary and remarks, Bishop Skinner; vocal duet "That Beautiful Land" Mrs. Reed Lowe and Mr. Haddock; remarks, J Warren Sirrine; vocal solo "Open The Gate to the Temple" Mrs. Larsen; remarks by President Reed Dayton; vocal duet "Perfect Day" Mrs. Lowe and Mr. Haddock; benediction J Clarence Lindsay; prelude and postlude music was by Mrs. A D Oakey; accompanists were Mrs. Oakey, Mrs. Lester Armatage and Miss Janet Larsen.
Interment was made in Sunset Lawn Mausoleum,
Salt Lake City, where the crypt was dedicated by Leland Dayton. Pallbearers were
Larry Nate, Shurel Nate, Gary Nate, Douglas Nate, Donald Smedley and Ronald
Sparks, grandsons of the deceased. Floral arrangements were cared for by the
Relief Society and the Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
