Ethel Jensen Matthews

Ethel Jensen Matthews, 90, died Tuesday at Bear Lake Nursing Home.  She was born Dec 10, 1893 in Ovid to Lars Peter Jensen and Margaret V Hymas.  She married Timothy Matthews Dec 15, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they made their home in Liberty and then moved to Montpelier in 1958.  He died Dec 5, 1974.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in positions in the ward and stake during her lifetime including counselor and president of the ward Primary and president of the Bear Lake Stake Primary.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd J of Soda Springs; Ray J of Montpelier; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Doris) Hulbert, Carlsbad California; Mrs. Carroll (LaMoyne) Secrist Idaho Falls; Mrs. Maurice (Margean) Ferguson Las Vegas Nev; Mrs. L J (Joyce) Jacobsen Soda Springs; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Idell Matthews, Logan, and Mrs. Leda Michaleson, Montpelier.  She was proceeded in death by a grandson, seven brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday at the Montpelier First Ward chapel.  Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary Thursday, from 7-9 pm and Friday at the mortuary one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
